Finding a teacher for the Quran or the Arabic language usually happens through a chain of recommendations — a cousin who knows someone, a message forwarded in a group chat. Ilm exists to make that chain visible. Every teacher listed here has been through the same six checks, and every claim on a profile has been seen by a person.

We do not rank teachers by how much they pay us. Search results are ordered by fit and rating, nothing else.

What we check

  Identity

  Government ID is matched against the name and photo shown on the public profile.

  Ijazah and sanad

  For Quran teachers we ask for the certificate and contact the issuing institution or teacher.

  Academic credentials

  Degrees and diplomas are confirmed with the awarding university before they appear on a profile.

  Teaching sample

  Every applicant delivers a recorded trial lesson that our review team assesses.

  Safeguarding

  Teachers working with children hold a current background check, renewed annually.

  Ongoing review

  Profiles are re-checked yearly, and reviews are only accepted from students who booked a lesson.
